The Crooked Line "Send in the Nouns"

About Me

A

I would call this the “humble brag” page, except I think it’s worth it to explain a little bit about myself to you. Using that criteria, here we go:

I was an Air Force Russian linguist for twenty-two years and flew reconnaissance missions on various odd-looking, antenna-laden aircraft. My friends often ask me what that actually means, so I’ve added a (way too) lengthy description of my Air Force career here. Following the Air Force, I worked for several years in the defense industry before retiring outright.

My Bachelor’s Degree is dual: English Literature and Creative Writing (University of Maryland); my preferred genres are poetry and songwriting. I’ve been very fortunate to have had poems published in numerous quarterlies and journals over the years, to include Rattle, The Virginia Quarterly Review, The Tishman Review, Voices International, and numerous others. I’ve also published two poetry collections–Around the Sun Without a Sail (2012) and Unusual Sorrows (2018)–and numerous original songs that you can stream for free on Soundcloud.

My wife Deborah and I live quietly with our little dog Walter in Tucson, Arizona. Feel free to contact me either in the comment sections of the posts or at fenwick@thecrookedline.net.
